NPHC Conciliation Service

A free service for customers of NPHC members
If things don’t go quite right

When you own a park home, usually everything is fine.  However, in the unlikely event that you have a complaint about the park, or your home, providing the supplier is a member of the NCC/NPHC, then you can use the free conciliation service.

The conciliation service aims to restore communication between parties in dispute – it tries to help them to resolve their differences. It does not attempt to mediate, arbitrate or make a judgment on the issues (it has no legal remit to do so).

Please also be aware that the service is unable to offer conciliation where one or more of the following situations arises in any dispute or matter of difference involving:
• a non-member company
• pitch fees
• a manufacturer's warranty
• something already being dealt with by another trade association in the caravan or park home industry
• an issue which is currently being dealt with by criminal law or already in progress under civil law including the Sale of Goods Act, or
• something where you have sought or are seeking legal assistance.

Once you have checked to ensure the supplier is an NCC/NPHC member (which you can do at the National Caravan Council website) then you can download the forms by clicking here.

What if you have a more serious dispute?
When things go really wrong

Government is in the process of transferring the jurisdiction on disputes under the Mobile Homes Act 1983 from county courts to Residential Property Tribunals (RPTs). This change is scheduled to come into force in 2010 and will provide a fast, easy and low cost method of settling differences.  For the latest information on this, see the Communities and Local Government website.
